The Mardi Gras season is essentially that one last party before the start of prayer and penance. In the Catholic tradition, Lent is a time of sacrifice. However, Carnival is a time of indulgence. Growing up in New Orleans, we took the time, good food, great parties and enjoy even better drinks. I can not tell you how to cook gumbo, or take a city-wide party for a million people, but I can tell you how to fill your glass. If you Mardi Gras like New Orleans enjoy native language, try one of these classic Mardi Gras drinks: * Hurricane Ingredients: The ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and then into a cocktail glass filled with ice, strain. * Mint Julep Ingredients: 4 oz Bourbon12-14 Mint Leaves1 teaspoon simple syrup Muddle the mint and simple syrup on the ground a short glass. Then fill the glass with ice and bourbon and stir until frosty * Sex on the Beach Ingredients: 1 ounces ounces Vodka1 Peach Schnapps3 ounces ounces grapefruit Juice3 cranberry juice Maraschino Cherry Mix all ingredients (except cherry) into a cocktail glass filled with ice.
